Slipcases

(aka: book box / protective cover)

Bring along a book to make a custom slipcase to fit

Skill Level: intermediate & upward

Workshop Length: 6.5 hours

Number of Participants: 3x

(please note workshop will only go ahead with 2 or more participants)

Make to take home:

• A slipcase to house a book from your own collection

• Covered in book cloth from TBS’s stock available

  (all high quality, professional materials are provided)

Bring with you:

• A soft or hard cover book

• Entire depth (thickness) of book, including the cover, must be 20mm minimum

• Up to A4 ish in size

Learn :

• How to do measurements and cut materials

• How to use adhesives

• How to use bookbinding tools and materials

• How to adapt these techniques to make a slipcase at home

Skill Level: intermediate & upward

In this workshop you learn will learn how to make an entire slipcase.

Having done some bookbinding or box making is necessary, as it requires skill with measurements, cutting and adhesives.

This workshop is ideal if you have done a hard cover workshop previously.

Workshops over 3 hours will have a 15min break. Full day & 2 day workshops include (additionally) a 30min lunch break. Tea & coffee are provided.

The Binding Studio is at 731 Scenic Dr, Henderson Valley, Auckland 0612. There is off street and on street parking available.

Please note there are no public buses to this area. The closest public transport is to Swanson Train Station. An Uber from the train station is approx $20.

This workshop will only go ahead with a min number of participants (or at TBS’s discretion.) You will be refunded in full if numbers are not reached.

72 hours notice is required for cancellations (you will be refunded your payment minus transaction charges.)

Cancellations under 72 hours will result in a 50% refund only.
